  • He tends to seek perfection.
  • He is a perfectionist and that's the cause of having a tough life.
    • have a hard life: 厳しい人生を送る
      • cf. have a discussion:

  • I'll ask them for their two cents. If I still desire to start my own business, it'll be a signal to go.
    • desire: wishing/hoping something
    • aspire: attempting to achieve a specific goal
      • cf. Once I get married, my aspirations and dreams would be sacrificed.:

  • It doesn't matter.
  • cf. I don't care.:

  • cross the line
    • Your recent attitude have crossed the line and impossible to miss. If you say something against the company, you could be removed from your job.
    • I don't want to be the kind of person who, when praising something, always puts something down at the same time.

  • hold a state funeral

    • Oh, I am so sorry but I don't want to talk about it because I am in no position to say things about the issue.
I'd rather not talk about it."

  • It occurred to me that until when will I keep staying here, when can I proceed to a next stage??
    • It occurred to me that...
    • I'm anxious to see her for the first time in five years.
      • この場合は be anxious to = be eager to(〜したくてたまらない)の用法
I have some concerns about this project.
I'm worried about the issue.
    • It's like comparing apples and oranges.

  • I've been busting my chops.
    • Our company doesn't apply the flex schedule and we are paid by working hours, so let's say we finish our work at 5:00 P.M., then we'll be pretend to be busy.

That's why

  • To summarize everything,...
  • To wrap up,...

Conversely / The other side of the coin
To put it the other way around
Actually / On the contrary / Or rather
    • We talk about what I have accomplished for this half a year and what should I improve next term.

  • autumn / fall colors
